Connie Hein is passionate about children and helping to teach them about history as a basis for patriotism. Her enthusiasm takes the students not only on a journey with Toliver in time, but a journey in writing and publishing. She gives them a rare glimpse into the writing/publishing process from beginning to end to encourage children to write and read everyday. She is scheduling school visits for the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school years. Her fee is charged per session (See specific session below) or $300.00 per full school day plus traveling expenses (when over 100 miles from Windsor, Colorado). There is no limit on number of students for any of the sessions. See presentation explanations below for specific information on sessions available. The History session $50.00 - 45-60 minutes depending on age of students and size of class. Reads the Toliver book to the students. Q&A time Worksheet is handed out to each student with interactive history questions and puzzles. (Coloring sheet handed out for younger students) Brief Preview of book two of the Toliver in Time series The Writing/Publishing session $50.00 - 45-60 minutes depending on age of students and size of class. Shows the Toliver book to the students - reads portions and shows illustrations of both the first and second books in the series and gives students the general idea and concept of the book and series. Takes the students from the beginning of the writing process of the series through editing, design, and final printing. The Extended Writing - Illustrating/Publishing session $100.00 - 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on age of students and size of class Shows the Toliver book to the students - reads portions and shows illustrations of both the first and second books in the series and gives students the general idea and concept of the book and series. Takes the students from the beginning of the writing process of the series through editing, design, and final printing. Does illustration exercise to help students understand the idea of how authors and illustrators work together or click here to schedule on-line CONTACT AUTHOR TO SCHEDULE VISIT NOW Every school library is given one softcover and one hardcover book. Every school also has the choice of: - having any books sold at $2.00 off per book.* - having the books sold at the regular retail price with $2.00 per book donated to the school library.* * Includes any books sold through the school as a result of the visit and presentation. Books may be ordered before or after the visit - Those ordered prior to the visit will be signed by the author and brought at the time of the signing. Books will be available for purchase at the time of the visit to your school at the discounted rate - also signed by the author. Be sure to include the name of school and date of visit when ordering books. Many references available upon request. |
