Toliver in Time: For a Fourth of July Celebration
Toliver was a happy, little honey-colored squirrel who lived in a beautiful, green forest with his mother and father and his baby sister, Taylor. Toliver loved his life in the woods. In the winter, when the days were short and cold, he spent most of his time with his family. They would sit by the fire reading and playing games in their warm, cozy, little house. |

One day, while Toliver was taking a different path to the pond than usual, he discovered some big boulders with a strange looking hole at the bottom. Because Toliver was a very curious squirrel, he stood and looked at it for some time. Finally, he decided to poke his little brown nose into the hole to see what was inside. |
|
Before he knew it, Toliver was being hurled through beautiful red, blue, and green clouds of smoke. The speed of Ole' Bess pushed them back in their seats. When the smoke cleared, they were in the big clear bubble floating somewhere over the earth.

As McNab prepared Ole' Bess for the journey home, he asked, "Toliver, now do you understand why we celebrate America's birthday?"
"Yes, I think I do," replied Toliver. "Thank you for showing me how hard American's fought so we could be free. I'll never forget this journey," he sincerely told McNab. |
